David Crews (b. 1983, Winston-Salem, North Carolina) is a landscape painter working in oil and watercolor. A 2004 exhibition of Hudson River School paintings at the North Carolina Museum of Art sparked his serious pursuit of landscape painting and eventually led him to the American tonalist tradition, especially the work of George Inness. Both of these schools of painting remain central influences on his work.
Crews holds a BFA in painting and drawing from East Carolina University. He is a member of Oil Painters of America and the North Carolina Watercolor Society. He lives and works near Raleigh, North Carolina.
