Eggplant

During a recent visit to a local farmers market, I saw some eggplants for sale. I don’t care for eggplant so it isn’t something I would normally buy. But on this occasion, they struck me as a nice subject to paint. The smooth, shiny surface; nearly black but with subtle shades of purple. Since this one seemed to be asking to be painted, I decided to give it a try. This is 5 × 7”, painted in oil on paper mounted on panel.
